Egypt
Overview
Claims For Egypt
Level A: 1. "The history of colonialism (imperialism) caused internal conflict in newly independent nations."
Imperialism left its mark on newly independent nations even after the imperial power was gone. Imperialism left countries unable to support themselves because of the draining of their resources and economic needs. Imperialism also left the country without a stable government power to take control and settle internal conflicts. The effects of colonialism took their toll on Egypt with their newly professed king unable to hold real control on his own and still relying and depending on an imperial power to rule the country. Imperialism would also lead to mistrust for outside interference from other countries throughout its time as a post-colonial nation. This fear of world powers still exists today because of imperialism.
Level B: 3. "U.S. intervention in the Third World after WWII caused contempt and bitterness among the Third World citizens."
The people of the Third World have great distaste for the US and other western countries due to their attempts at intervention during WWII. The Middle Eastern civilians have a hatred for the countries who intervened in Palestine to replace it with Israel and whose government agencies, like the CIA, meddle in their own government affairs and attempt to develop some form of control over the region. This bitterness causes distrust and disagreement between the two regions and prevents diplomacy from reaching any new grounds. This anger and contempt has withstood from WWII and is still alive in the people today.
Level C: 1. Global politics, economics, society, and cultures are interrelated."The practices of Global politics, economics, society, and culture all connect and relate to one another throughout many regions, especially in the middle east. Political leaders with Global persuasion make decisions of their country that effect their economic position. How a country is doing economically effects the ranks of society by either bringing the upper class and the lower class closer together or apart. Society also affects culture because the way society is organized defines what people hold dear and celebrate as a part of their cultural beliefs. This cause and effect relationship between these four systems intertwine them all together allowing for these four ideas to appear in countries and regions across the world, including The Middle east and Egypt.

Evidence For Egypt

"Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."
-Golda Meir, 4th Prime Minister of Israel (1969-1974)
"The uprising in Egypt was initiated by the young generation. The uprising achieved two things. One is it made the lives of dictators impossible. Today, if you are looking for a safe job, don't become a dictator."
-Shimon Peres, Current President of Israel, (2007-present)
Secondary Sources
"What sets the present situation apart is its absence of ambiguity. Egyptians want the armed forces to provide order and security, and would like a government that creates employment and provides youth with an outlook for their future. What citizens — Islamist, secular, and in-between — do not want is a military clique that rules the country, enjoys privileged access to society’s resources, and imprisons Egyptians at will."
-Nivien Saleh, Middle Eastern Affairs Expert, Author, and teacher

The Brave Men are Brave
"The brave men are brave,
The cowards are cowardly,
Come with the brave,
Together to the Square."
-Ahmed Fouad Negm, Egyptian Revolutionary and Poet (1929-2013)
(This poem is used as a chant by the crowds of civilians at rallies and revolutions.)
Egypt Today
Egypt today still faces some major issues, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, a powerful Islamic group created in Egypt. After Mubarak was removed from power the Brotherhood took over in his place. A member of the Brotherhood was elected President of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi, who held power for some time. Morsi was overthrown because of his poor leadership and his loyalty to the brotherhood. He was replaced in the summer of 2013 this, of course, did upset the Muslim brotherhood. Now Egypt's government is mostly controlled by their military, but the Brotherhood does not agree with this choice, and are still angry with Egypt for removing one of their own from office. The rest of Egypt however believes that the military and the interim made a wise decision by getting rid of Morsi, saving them from Civil War and the Brotherhood. Egypt is currently trying to level itself from all its previous major issues and move towards its goal of a Democratic government. Recently Egypt lost quite a few of it's people and another large chunk were injured severely from anti-government protests many of these protesters were either killed or arrested and still to this day anyone who goes against the new government will be arrested and or fined. Now their Prime Minister has resigned and the reason behind this is still unknown to the people of Egypt. Though Egypt has been through a lot with their economy and government. the people still show great blind faith in their government to keep them on track and lead and protect them in these harsh times.
